Tommaso Campanella

Tommaso Campanella (born Giovanni Domenico Campanella) was an influential Italian Dominican friar, philosopher, theologian, and poet of the late Renaissance, best known for his utopian work 'La città del sole' (The City of the Sun). He spent nearly 27 years imprisoned by the Spanish crown for his radical political ideas and heretical views, yet continued to write extensively on philosophy, nature, and social reform. His thought bridged Renaissance humanism with Counter-Reformation theology and early scientific inquiry.
