Tomaz Salamun

Tomaž Šalamun (1941–2014) was a Slovenian poet, a leading figure in postwar neo-avant-garde poetry in Central Europe, known for his absurdist style and as a bridge between European roots and American poetry. Born in Zagreb, Croatia, and raised in Koper, Slovenia, he studied art history, worked as a curator and conceptual artist, and authored over 50 books of poetry translated into more than 25 languages. He received numerous awards including the Prešeren Prize and served in roles like cultural attaché in New York.
