Timothy Zahn

Timothy Zahn is an American science fiction and fantasy author, best known for his influential Star Wars novels, especially the Thrawn trilogy, which helped revive interest in the franchise. He has also written numerous original series and short fiction, and won the Hugo Award in 1984 for the novella Cascade Point.
