Time-Life Books was the book publishing division of Time Inc., founded in 1961 as a subsidiary focused on direct-to-consumer sales of book series through mail-order clubs. It became renowned for producing multi-volume illustrated series on history, mysteries, biographies, and other topics, achieving rapid success with projected sales of $100 million in its first year.
