Thompson, J. Michael

John Michael Tutill Thompson, known as J. Michael T. Thompson, is a British mathematician born on June 7, 1937, in Cottingham, England. He is an Honorary Fellow in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge and Emeritus Professor of Nonlinear Dynamics at University College London, renowned for his work in shell buckling and nonlinear dynamics. A Fellow of the Royal Society since 1985, he has received awards including the James Alfred Ewing Medal in 1992 and the Lyapunov Award in 2013.[1][2]
