Thomas Wentworth Higginson

Thomas Wentworth Higginson was an American Unitarian minister, author, abolitionist, and soldier. He commanded a regiment of freed slaves during the Civil War and later became a prominent advocate for women's suffrage. As a literary figure, he wrote essays, history, and biography, and is also remembered for his correspondence with Emily Dickinson.
