Thomas Raikes

Thomas Raikes (1777–1848) was a British dandy, diarist, and occasional merchant, best known for his diary comprising reminiscences of leading men of fashion and politics in London and Paris during the early nineteenth century.[2] The son of Thomas Raikes the Elder, a governor of the Bank of England, he was educated at Eton and spent much of his life cultivating acquaintances in fashionable society, belonging to prestigious clubs such as White's and the Carlton Club.[3]
