Thomas Pride
Colonel Thomas Pride (c. 1607 – 23 October 1658) was an English army officer who fought for Parliament during the English Civil Wars, rising to the rank of colonel in the New Model Army.[1][2] He is best known for orchestrating Pride's Purge in December 1648, expelling over 140 MPs from the House of Commons to enable the trial and execution of King Charles I, of which he was a regicide.[1][3] Knighted by Oliver Cromwell in 1656, he commanded forces at battles like Dunbar and Worcester before dying at Worcester House, Surrey.[1][2]
