Thomas Preston
Thomas Preston (c. 1537–1598) was an English scholar, academic, and early playwright of the Renaissance period. Educated at Eton and King's College, Cambridge, he became a fellow there, earned advanced degrees including a doctor of laws, and later served as master of Trinity Hall and vice-chancellor of the university. He is best known for his play 'Cambises, King of Persia' (c. 1560), noted for its dramatic violence and moral themes on justice and authority.[1][3]
