Thomas Layton

Thomas Layton was an English lighterman, coal merchant, and later a dredging businessman who also developed a strong interest in history and antiquities. He was born in 1819 at Strand on the Green near Kew Bridge, spent most of his life in Brentford, and died at home in 1911 at the age of 92.
