Thomas Johnes

Thomas Johnes (1748–1816) was a Welsh landowner, Member of Parliament, landscape architect, farmer, printer, writer, and social benefactor, best known for developing the Hafod Estate through extensive afforestation and innovative agriculture.[1][2] Born in Ludlow, Shropshire, he inherited the estate in 1780, planted millions of trees, collected art, and established a printing press there.[1][3] Despite financial difficulties and a devastating fire in 1807, he rebuilt Hafod before his death in 1816.[3]
