Thomas Garden Barnes
Thomas Garden Barnes was a distinguished professor emeritus of history and law at UC Berkeley, renowned for his erudite scholarship in English, French, American, and Canadian law and history. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University in 1952 and earned his doctorate in history at Oxford University three years later. Barnes was a leading advocate of Canadian studies in the United States and died on March 9, 2010, at the age of 80.
