Thomas Barthel
Thomas Sylvester Barthel (1923–1997) was a German ethnologist and university professor best known for his foundational work on deciphering the rongorongo script of Easter Island. He was born in Berlin, studied ethnology and related fields in Germany, and later served as a professor at the University of Tübingen, where he led the Institute for Ethnology. [3][6][7]
