Thom van van Dooren

Thom van Dooren is an environmental philosopher, anthropologist, and field philosopher currently serving as Professor of Environmental Humanities at the University of Sydney, Australia, and a Humboldt Research Award funded Fellow at the University of Cologne from 2024. He is the founding co-editor of the open-access journal Environmental Humanities and his research focuses on philosophical, ethical, cultural, and political issues surrounding species extinctions and wildlife management, as explored in books like Flight Ways: Life and Loss at the Edge of Extinction. Previously, he was a Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales and a Humboldt Research Fellow at the Rachel Carson Center.
