The Economist

The Economist is a weekly British news magazine founded in 1843 by Scottish economist and businessman James Wilson to campaign for the repeal of the Corn Laws, a system of import tariffs on grain. It began as a broadsheet newspaper advocating for free trade and expanded its coverage to include political economy, current events, finance, commerce, and British politics. The publication transitioned to a perfect-bound weekly in 1971 and now uses a stapled magazine format.
