Terry Brooks
Terence Dean 'Terry' Brooks, born January 8, 1944, in Sterling, Illinois, is an acclaimed American fantasy author best known for his epic Shannara series, starting with The Sword of Shannara in 1977, which became a New York Times bestseller. A former practicing attorney with degrees from Hamilton College and Washington & Lee University School of Law, he has authored over 23 New York Times bestsellers, sold more than 25 million books, and novelized Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. In March 2025, he announced his semi-retirement from writing.[1][3][4]
