Ted Lewin
Ted Lewin (1935–2021) was an acclaimed American author and illustrator of children's books, having illustrated over 200 titles, including the 1994 Caldecott Honor winner Peppe the Lamplighter. He grew up in Buffalo, New York, with a family of professional wrestlers, pursued wrestling himself to fund his art education at Pratt Institute, and collaborated frequently with his wife Betsy on books inspired by their global travels to places like the Amazon and Sahara.[1][2][5]
