Ted Hughes
Ted Hughes (1930-1998) was an influential English poet, translator, and children's writer, renowned for his vivid, unsentimental depictions of the natural world, animal savagery, and mythology. He gained early acclaim with his debut collection The Hawk in the Rain (1957), served as Britain's Poet Laureate from 1984 until his death, and his legacy is intertwined with his tumultuous marriage to Sylvia Plath, who died by suicide in 1963.
