Takashi Shiraishi

Takashi Shiraishi is a Japanese academic and historian specializing in East Asian studies, international relations, and politics. Born in 1950 in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, he earned a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Tokyo and a Ph.D. in History from Cornell University. He has held prominent positions including professor at Kyoto University, president of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) and the Institute of Developing Economies-JETRO, and currently serves as Chancellor of Prefectural University of Kumamoto.
