T D (Thomas Dwight) 1 Witherspoon

Thomas Dwight Witherspoon (1836–1898) was a prominent Presbyterian pastor, seminary professor, and chaplain in the Confederate Army who served as a founding faculty member at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville. He was a noted theologian who articulated core ideas of Presbyterian ecclesiology, particularly in his booklet 'The Five Points of Presbyterianism,' emphasizing church power vested in the people. Born in Greensboro, Alabama, he graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1856 and later earned theological training at the Presbyterian Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina.
