Sven O. E. Ebbesson is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Alaska Fairbanks College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, specializing in neuroscience and public health research among Alaskan Native populations. He has conducted pioneering studies on diet, omega-3 fatty acids, diabetes, and heart disease in Eskimo communities, noting the rise of these conditions post-1970 due to dietary shifts from traditional to store-bought foods. Ebbesson is honored with the annual Sven Ebbesson Award for contributions to Alaskan neuroscience and was involved in the Alaska Siberia Medical Research Program.
