Susan Hawthorne

Susan Hawthorne (born 30 November 1951) is an Australian writer, poet, political commentator, and publisher who co-founded Spinifex Press with Renate Klein, a leading independent feminist publisher. She has authored or edited over 30 books in poetry, fiction, and non-fiction, translated into eight languages, covering topics like feminism, ecology, war, and lesbian politics, and has been active in the women’s liberation movement since 1973. Her accolades include the George Robertson Award for publishing services and the 2017 Penguin Random House Inspire Award for disability awareness.
