Susan Blackburn
Dr. Susan Blackburn is an Honorary Research Fellow with the Australian National Algae Culture Collection (ANACC) at CSIRO, following over 20 years as its Director, and is internationally recognized for her expertise in microalgae research including biodiversity, harmful algal blooms, bioproducts, and biofuels. She serves as Vice-President of the International Society for Applied Phycology and Director of the Network of Asia Oceania Algae Culture Collections, with awards including a CSIRO Medal for Research Achievement and induction into the Tasmanian Honour Roll of Women. Born in Hobart on 27 July 1953, she holds a Bachelor of Science in botany from the University of Tasmania.
