Sumner Carnahan

Sumner Carnahan, also known as Melody Sumner Carnahan, is an American author of three story collections—The Time Is Now (1982), Thirteen (1995), and One Inch Equals Twenty-Five Miles (2000)—and the biography In the Presence of My Enemies about a Tibetan nobleman. Originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, she studied at Mills College Center for Contemporary Music under Robert Ashley, earning an MFA in writing, and has collaborated with composers on texts for compositions, performances, and multimedia works. She has lived in New Mexico since 1989 and co-founded Burning Books press.
