Sue Hubbell
Sue Hubbell (1935–2018) was an American author known for her books on natural history, beekeeping, and rural life, including New York Times Notable Books A Country Year and A Book of Bees. Born Suzanne Gilbert in Kalamazoo, Michigan, she worked as a librarian at institutions like Brown University before becoming a commercial beekeeper in the Missouri Ozarks after her divorce and writing essays for publications such as The New Yorker, Smithsonian, and The New York Times. She later lived in Washington, D.C., and Maine, where she died from complications of dementia.[1][2][3]
