Steven Szokolay
Steven Vajk Szokolay (1927–2024) was a Hungarian-born Australian architectural scientist and pioneer in climatic design. Born in Budapest to architect Bela Szokolay and poet Marta Tompa, he faced imprisonment under the communist regime before fleeing Hungary during the 1956 uprising and settling in Australia in 1957. Renowned for works like 'Introduction to Architectural Science' and research on solar control and equatorial climates, he became a world authority on sustainable building design.
