Steve Gray
Stephen Gray was a prolific South African author, poet, novelist, playwright, biographer, and influential anthologist who shaped the South African literary canon through his editorial work and writings across multiple genres.[1][2][3] Born in Cape Town, he studied at the University of Cape Town and Cambridge University, later becoming a professor of English at the University of Johannesburg and receiving awards like the South African Literary Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2007.[1][2][6] He passed away on October 22, 2020, at age 78, leaving a legacy of eight novels, poetry volumes, plays, and acclaimed biographies.[1][7]
