Stephen Vincent Benet

Stephen Vincent Benét (1898–1943) was an American poet, short story writer, and novelist best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning narrative poem *John Brown's Body* about the American Civil War. He also wrote notable short stories such as "The Devil and Daniel Webster" and "By the Waters of Babylon," and was awarded a second Pulitzer Prize posthumously for *Western Star* in 1944[1][2][3].
