Stephen T. Johnson
Stephen T. Johnson is an award-winning American author, illustrator, and artist born in 1964 in Madison, Wisconsin, known for his children's books such as Alphabet City, which received a Caldecott Honor and New York Times Best Illustrated Book awards. He holds a B.F.A. in Painting and Design and Illustration from the University of Kansas and has taught at institutions including Pratt Institute and Syracuse University. His conceptually rich work spans children's literature, public art commissions, gallery exhibitions, and paintings, earning recognitions like Society of Illustrators medals and the 2004 Governor’s Art Award from Kansas.[2][3][5][7]
