Stephen Reed

Stephen Reid was a Canadian author and former bank robber, best known as a member of the Stopwatch Gang, which committed numerous heists in Canada and the U.S. He began writing during a 21-year prison sentence in 1984, publishing his debut novel Jackrabbit Parole in 1986 and later the essay collection A Crowbar in the Buddhist Garden in 2012. Married to poet Susan Musgrave, he was released on parole in 1987 and again in 2015, living on Vancouver Island and Haida Gwaii until his death.
