Stephen Porter
Dr. Stephen Porter was a British historian and author specializing in early modern London history, disasters like fire, plague, and war, and the English Civil Wars. He worked for many years on the Survey of London and served as the Charterhouse's honorary archivist, producing over 20 meticulously researched books including The Great Fire, The Great Plague, Pepys’s London, and Shakespeare’s London. A Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and the Royal Historical Society, he died in 2021 at the age of 72.[1][2][5]
