Stephen McCauley

Stephen McCauley is an American author of eight novels, including national bestsellers such as The Object of My Affection (1987), Alternatives to Sex, and My Ex-Life, three of which have been adapted into feature films. He grew up outside Boston in Woburn, Massachusetts, attended the University of Vermont (graduating in 1978), earned an MFA from Columbia University, and held various jobs including travel agent, kindergarten teacher, and yoga instructor before moving to Brooklyn in the 1980s. Currently, he co-directs the Creative Writing Program at Brandeis University as Professor of the Practice of English and was named a Chevalier in the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture.[1][2][3][4]
