Stephen L Carter

Stephen L. Carter (born October 26, 1954) is an American legal scholar, novelist, and public intellectual who serves as the William Nelson Cromwell Professor of Law at Yale Law School. He is the author of both nonfiction and fiction, including the bestselling novel *The Emperor of Ocean Park* and works on law, religion, civility, and public ethics.
