Stephen J. Ellis
Stephen Ellis (1953–2015) was a British historian and Africanist specializing in post-colonial West Africa and South Africa. He served as a senior researcher at the African Studies Centre Leiden, editor of Africa Confidential and African Affairs, and Desmond Tutu Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His notable works include This Present Darkness: A History of Nigerian Organised Crime and External Mission: The ANC in Exile 1960-1990, which won the Recht Malan Prize.
