Stephen Gaukroger

Stephen Gaukroger (1950–2023) was a prominent British historian of philosophy and science, best known for his work on Descartes and the emergence of scientific culture in modernity, authoring over 16 books including the acclaimed four-volume study on science and modernity.[2][3] He earned degrees from the University of London and Cambridge, held positions at universities including Melbourne and Sydney where he became Emeritus Professor of History of Philosophy and History of Science.[5] Note: Search results distinguish this academic from a separate Christian minister of the same name.[1][8]
