Stefan Zawadzki

Stefan Zawadzki (born 1946 in Jasieniec, Poland) is a Polish historian and professor of humanities, specializing in the history of the Ancient Near East, particularly Assyria, the Neo-Babylonian Empire, and early Persia.[1][2] He has served as a professor at Adam Mickiewicz University, where he founded and led the Department of Ancient Near East History from 1996 to 2016, and has authored numerous monographs on the subject.[1][6] In 2021, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.[2]
