Stanley Wells
Sir Stanley Wells (b. 1930) is a renowned Shakespeare scholar and authority on the works and life of William Shakespeare. He earned his PhD from the University of Birmingham in 1962, served as Professor of Shakespeare Studies there until 1997, and is now Emeritus Professor. He is Chairman of the Trustees of Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Honorary Emeritus Governor of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, editor of Shakespeare Survey, and general editor of The Complete Oxford Shakespeare.
