Stanley W. Hoffman

Stanley Hoffmann was a renowned Harvard University professor of political science, specializing in international relations, American foreign policy, French and European politics. Born in Vienna in 1928 to an American father and Austrian mother, he grew up in France, graduated top of his class from Sciences Po in 1948, and joined Harvard in 1951, where he taught for over 58 years, authored 19 books, and founded key programs like the Social Studies major and the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies. He died in 2015 at age 86, leaving a lasting legacy as a public intellectual and influential teacher.
