Stan Fischler, known as 'The Hockey Maven,' is a legendary hockey broadcaster, journalist, author, and historian whose career spans over 70 years, beginning at Brooklyn College in the early 1950s.[1][3] He has authored or co-authored nearly 100 books on hockey and baseball, written for major publications like The New York Times and Sports Illustrated, and won seven or eight Emmy Awards for his broadcasting work with teams including the New York Rangers and Islanders.[1][4][5] Inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2025 and the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2021, he continues covering hockey from Israel after retiring from TV in 2018.[1][2][3]
