St. Teresa of Jesus of the Andes

St. Teresa of Jesus of the Andes, born Juanita Verga, was a Chilean Carmelite nun known for her deep spirituality and devotion. She entered the Carmel of Los Andes in 1919, took the name Teresa of Jesus, and died of typhus less than a year later. Her spiritual writings and letters have inspired many, and she was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1993.
