St. Augustine of Hippo (Aurelius Augustinus) was a Christian theologian, bishop, preacher, and one of the Latin Fathers of the Church. Born in Roman North Africa, he converted to Christianity in 387 and became bishop of Hippo in 396; his most influential works include *Confessions* and *The City of God*.[1][2]
