Spiro Kostof

Spiro Kostof (1936-1991) was a Turkish-born American architectural historian and professor at the University of California, Berkeley, widely recognized as one of the world's leading experts in the field. He authored influential books such as A History of Architecture: Settings and Rituals (1985), The City Shaped (1991), and The City Assembled (1992), and was known for exploring the relationships between architecture, urbanism, and the cultures that shaped them. Kostof also hosted the 1987 PBS series America by Design and served as president of the Society of Architectural Historians from 1974 to 1976.
