Shih Hu
Hu Shih (1891–1962) was a prominent Chinese scholar, diplomat, philosopher, and leader of the New Culture Movement who championed the use of vernacular Chinese as the official written language, replacing classical Chinese to promote literacy. He advocated American pragmatism, political liberalism, and education over revolution to modernize China, serving as ambassador to the US, president of Peking University, and president of Academia Sinica.[1][2]
