Sherry L. Smith

Sherry L. Smith is a historian of the American West and Native America, serving as University Distinguished Professor of History (Emerita) at Southern Methodist University. She grew up in Northwest Indiana, earned her undergraduate degree at Purdue University, and obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Washington, after which she resided west of the Mississippi River. Her award-winning books include Hippies, Indians, and the Fight for Red Power and Reimagining Indians: Native Americans through Anglo Eyes, 1880–1940.
