Sherman Alexie
Sherman Alexie (born October 7, 1966, on the Spokane Indian Reservation near Spokane, Washington) is a Spokane-Coeur d'Alene American novelist, short story writer, poet, and filmmaker whose works explore Indigenous experiences on reservations and in urban settings.[1][2][5] His notable books include the short-story collection The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven (1993), the novel Reservation Blues (1995), and the semi-autobiographical young adult novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian (2007), which won the National Book Award for Young People's Literature.[1][2][5] He has received numerous awards but faced sexual misconduct allegations in 2017.[4][6]
