Sara Paretsky
Sara Paretsky, born June 8, 1947, in Ames, Iowa, is an American author best known for her detective novels featuring the tough female private investigator V.I. Warshawski, starting with Indemnity Only in 1982. Raised in rural Kansas, she graduated from the University of Kansas and has lived in Chicago, where she worked as a community organizer and advocated for social justice causes. Paretsky has also written stand-alone novels like Bleeding Kansas, short stories, essays, and her memoir Writing in an Age of Silence, while co-founding Sisters in Crime to support women mystery writers.[1][2][3][4]
