Sanrio
Shintaro Tsuji is a Japanese entrepreneur and former civil servant who founded Sanrio in 1960 as Yamanashi Silk Company, initially focusing on textiles before pivoting to character merchandise like Hello Kitty.[1][3][4] He served as president until 2020, building the company into a global brand known for kawaii culture and products sold worldwide.[1][6] Born in Kofu, Yamanashi Prefecture, Tsuji recognized the appeal of cute designs in the 1970s, leading Sanrio's expansion into stationery and trinkets.[3][6]
