Sandra M. Castillo

Sandra M. Castillo is a Cuban-American poet born in Havana, Cuba, who emigrated to Miami, Florida, with her family in 1970 on one of the last Freedom Flights. She earned her BA and MA in creative writing from Florida State University and is the author of My Father Sings to My Embarrassment (2002), selected for the White Pine Press Poetry Prize. Her poetry, which explores themes of memory, exile, family, and immigration, has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies including The Norton Anthology of Latino Literature, and she teaches at Miami Dade College.
