Sandor Weores
Sándor Weöres (1913-1989) was a Hungarian poet and author who wrote imaginative lyrical verse encompassing a wide range of techniques and metric forms. He rejected Socialist Realism to explore diverse areas including Eastern philosophy, Polynesian myths, and children's nursery rhymes. A distinguished translator of major European poets, he received the Kossuth Prize in 1970, Hungary's highest award.
