Samuel D. Hooper

Samuel D. Hooper (February 3, 1808 – February 14, 1875) was an American businessman and politician who served as a U.S. Congressman from Massachusetts from 1861 until his death. Born in Marblehead, Massachusetts, he made a fortune in the China trade before entering politics, where he played a key role in shaping Civil War-era financial reforms, including the greenback currency.[1][2][5]
